Clarification...

So as I have thought about my last post, I realized that some may think that I am expressing racial views. That is not the case at all. I truly am no respector of persons and don't like even racial jokes. I was just listening to the famous Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. speech "I have a dream..." and wanted to clarify my last post. In his speech he says that he hopes his children will grow up to live in a nation where they are not judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their characters (paraphrased). And so I just wanted to clarify that it is not the color of his skin, but the content of Obama's character that I find hard to believe in and trust as a leader of our great nation.

so it seems to me that you havent listened to any of OBAMA's speeches or debates. and if you did listen to the inaguration speech you would have changed your mind about OBAMA. (sorry to be a little mean.. but the comment about only watching the inaguration to see him be assassinated kinda makes me think you are racial because that is the only reason he would be assassinated)

Thanks for the clarification Em! I agree, Obama scares me as well with some of his ideals. I will support him though because is the leader of our nation. I was really upset about how everyone treated President Bush at the inauguration though. Even though he had a hard eight years and made some mistakes (HELLO, everyone makes mistakes!), he was still our President and we should respect him for that. None of us could have done any better in his place. Everyone was treating Obama like he is some kind of deity (which is stupid, he's just a man). Even he was a disrespectful in his inauguration speech!

Anyway, I haven't talked with you forever Em, but I keep up with your blog!

You know Emily, I really do agree with you. And I HAVE listened to his speeches. I don't think that he was the best choice for the country, (although I don't think McCain was either...) But I have to remind myself that OBAMA (is it a rule that we use his name in all caps?) is the President, but that there are 2 other branches of the government that approves and disapproves things, hopefully in the best interest of the people. I think people especially forgot that when Bush was president.
It makes me kind of laugh that someone might think you are racist based on your own views and comments. Your views arent based on skin color- and I wonder at times whether he was voted for by majority of the public for that reason.
The only thing I can do at this point is pray that he does things with the interest of the country and people. However, once things start going south, I will have no problem jetting off and hiding in Canada or someplace until the whole thing blows over.
(sidenote, and this is something that might make you chuckle... I listened to his inauguration speech and his speech sounded vaguely familiar... from a Disney channel original movie that I had watched a few years ago... hmm)
